Mealime is shutting down on October 21. Save your recipes before then.
Mealime's announcement says all personal data will be deleted when the app is discontinued. If there are recipes in there you cook regularly, the time to get them out is now — and it takes a few minutes, not an evening.
Looking for somewhere to plan dinners after the 21st? Kiwi is live on the web and on Android — and you can try it without an account.
What Mealime has actually said
Straight from Mealime's own announcement, so you don't have to take our word for it:
Pro subscribers won't be charged again before then, and Pro recipes and features have been opened up to everyone in the meantime. Mealime is pointing people to Meals Hub, which it describes as living inside Albertsons Companies store apps.
Quoted September 2026. If Mealime updates that page, theirs is the accurate one — not ours.
How to save your recipes before October 21
Mealime's shutdown announcement doesn't offer an export, so the practical approach is to save the ones you actually cook, by hand. It's tedious but it's quick if you're ruthless about which ones matter.
-
Make a short list first
Nobody re-cooks everything they ever saved. Open Mealime and pick the handful you genuinely return to — most people land somewhere between five and twenty.
-
Screenshot each one, ingredients and steps
Open the recipe, screenshot the ingredients, scroll, screenshot the instructions. Two or three shots per recipe. Screenshots are the fastest option and they keep the quantities, which is the part people forget.
-
Or copy the text into a note
If you'd rather have text you can search later, select and paste each recipe into your notes app or a doc. Slower, but easier to re-use anywhere.
-
Do it before the 21st
After the shutdown there's nothing to go back to. Meal plans and shopping lists aren't really recoverable by hand — the recipes are the part worth rescuing.
Looking for a Mealime alternative? What Kiwi is, honestly
We built Kiwi, and we'd rather tell you exactly where it stands than oversell it.
Kiwi is live on the web and on Android today. It runs in any browser, phone included, at app.kitchenwizard.ai, and the Android app is on Google Play — the iPhone app is coming soon. You can try it before you sign up: the Test Kitchen builds a plan in a minute, no account needed.
Kiwi is a paid app, and it's worth saying so up front. It's $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, after a 14-day free trial with every feature unlocked. Mealime had a free tier; Kiwi doesn't. If that's a dealbreaker, better to know now than after you've signed up.
What it does: you tell it what you're hungry for, and it plans a week of meals around your household and what you avoid, merges it all into one grocery list, and walks you through prepping and cooking. The whole loop in one place rather than a recipe app plus a list app plus a timer.

The part that's relevant if you're coming from Mealime: Kiwi can take a recipe from a link, from pasted text, or from a photo. So the screenshots from step 2 above aren't a dead end — they can become real recipes with ingredients and steps. There's no direct Mealime import, because there's no Mealime export to import from.
No claim that we're a drop-in replacement for something you've used for years. Save your recipes regardless of what you do next.
